Q7. Were there any mistakes?

It is said that more than 1,000 innocent people were executed since 1976.
350 people were convicted of capital crimes in the U.S.A between 1900 and 1986 were innocent of the crimes charged, according to a 1995 study. Some prisoners escaped execution by minutes, but 67 innocent people were actually executed. And in Japan, some experts estimate that up to 10% of people executed since 1945 were innocent. Moreover, the number of innocent people convicted of non-capital crime is thought to be even higher.

  1. Actually I was surprised to hear that so many innocent people have executed. I think many of them instituted lawsuits against courts or governments and I'd like to know how many plaintiffs won their cases around the world.

  2. I thought that death penalty have the risk to kill innocent people if there are some proper investigations. In Japan, there are also some incidents which people who were arrested were actually innocent. So in terms of committing the death penalty, police should investigate whether the criminal committed the crime or not accurately.
